260. I saw no falsity when I was born,

SONNET 260

By JH Sayyar
I saw no falsity when I was born,
Since cradle till youth learnt truth,
On growing up my soul was worn
A black garb of lie, in my youth,
I cunningly separate truth from lie,
One by one but old books reveal,
Darkness prevails when truths fly,
On earth when Angels light steal,
Contains of darkness and heat:
Passion, lie, darkness, light fire,
What links light and darkness? Heat,
If dissolves light behind a dark liar,

Lie darkness but light a pure truth,
Light: smile, lie a mistress of ruth
