Ode to the Pakistanis
By JH Sayyar
1
Pakistan: a holy place for peace and calm
The heaven for the migrants: old and young
Sacrificed lives countless in the name of Islam
O God! No Islam, corruption on every tongue
Every Department corrupt, rulers and courts
Police, medicine, edible markets and Malls
In offices bribery, think, my nation, do think
Rulers loot national and international ports
Murderers and thieves; corrupt rulers’ palls
No peace; peoples cannot sleep at a wink.
2
PM and Ministers loot all national wealth
Courts support gaily culprits at any cast
Duplicate medicines destroy peoples’ health
Jungle laws, no difference in present and past
What is nation doing? Nothing, sits at home
Eating, drink and sleep; children’s being
Prices; soaring up; no gas, no electric supply
In my country, peoples die due to gloom
The rulers’ corruption spindle is fleeing
None listens to the poor women’s heart cry
3
O Youths!, Do come; out of homes to protect;
Your; holy land from the vile rulers of country
Our country goes to gloom; a religious sect
Divides into groups; Ah! Increasing worry
Time has come out of home to support Khan
Expel the expellers from the country by force
Men, women and children deprived of rights
Come out of homes, and change your plan
To protect national and international grace
People of my country fall into horrible fights
