12. Ode to Goodnight

12. Ode to Goodnight

                          By JH Sayyar

1
Alas! A few ponder over the four seasons,
Spring, autumn, winter and fruitful summer
When says farewell to autumn fail all reasons,
Flowers and tree wither, afraid of the new comer,
Leaves and fruits die slowly; due to farewell,
Winter confines men and animals in four walls,
Coldness kills emotions, feelings all night tease,
Arteries and veins disturb, mind and soul calls,
My sad heart tries to come out of memory hell,
All senses, memories, feelings fall like desert trees

2
Hearts pains, eyes weep, my all senses fail,
When you say, ’Good Night’ with a sullen face,
Tears fall on cheeks, you sleep in a dream dale,
Words pierce heart and soul, more sensitive case,
Your saying goodbye gives me everlasting pain,
As Adam said farewell to Eden in a sad mood,
Who disobeyed? none knows who was wrong,
Their love fails, my Swan with me; not rude,
I collect your grief; in search of a love grain,
To spread in mud, without you to live in vain,
Your echo hears my heart; soul weak; not strong,

3
O Muse! I wonder how love turns into tart,
What I can do; putting face on the pillow all night,
I see angels consoling my being all alone,
Drowning in the sea of sleep, sweet woes bite,
Her memories make me sad; bites soul in gloom,
My body numbs, her grief makes me mad,
My Lady happy with sleep, leaves me in hell,
Who sees the face of morn; roses and comely lad,
My beloved forgets me, sleeps in her cozy room,
Her seep her heaven, it is a day of doom,
My Swan’s love causes death, her sleep deities tell,
