2. Ode to Pleasure

2. Ode to Pleasure

1

Spring spreads glee among birds and beasts:
The life revival; changes feelings and emotions,
Women arrange erotic dance; men receive feats.
Angels smile; the children a play game,
Ladies go for bill and coo with lovers in park,
Graceful moments may be seen everywhere:
Birds chirp; babies smile watching lark,
Eyes attract eyes, heart, heart does tame,
On the earth is written men’s future aim
Wearing dresses women roam for an affair

2

Pleasures; birds and beasts know it not,
They feel in cool breeze how they discern,
Happy, the watchers say, sitting on the cot,
Pleasures nothing; we good or bad lot earn,
Fools enjoy pleasures like agile sparrows,
Flying away from the home; hunger their fall,
Or escape from weather eagles swallow,
Crow’s mother teaches kids since the crawl.
Fawns’ kids are preyed in day with arrows.
An unseen beauty dies as in jungle a cute rose
Wisdom teaches wise, never pleasure follows

3

O God! Take pleasure back; behind it pain
Pleasures come in veil of glee to give woes
And grief the poor; on earth wisdom to slain
I find pleasure, my love, known by one or two
What is life? Nothing,; a drop in seas soon,
Like beauty, my Swan, for short time, I find
Think in lone, woes and grief a heavenly gift:
In different shapes pleasures here me remind,
Leave pleasure songs; weal and woe croon,
The essence of wisdom is light of the Moon,
Here woes, there pleasure, Woe and wisdom rift
