Ode to the Bleeding Heart
By JH Sayyar
1
O Bleeding Heart none sees sighs and tears,
I do feel and realize your bleeding harm,
People shut eyes and greed goggle wears,
My cheeks and eyes, full of blood, warm,
I see passing beggars sit on the path,
Paying no attention, bowing down gait,
Running to homes, carrying in the hands,
The world is cruel, eyes full of wrath,
Find rest in rooms, poor wait at the gate,
None comes, night comes to disbands.
2
Tearful eyes see all but curses cruel fate,
Ah! “God is in Heaven, all is well.” not right,
God: missing, all is not well I do await,
When Fate sits on His Thrown with full might,
Laugh at the poor’s fate, sit on the seat,
Like a scarecrow to frighten birds in the farm,
When wishes die, Fate turns her face!
Changes her shape into an eagle to greet,
His owner sits crying the sight full of charm,
The eagle is left free: the joy birds to trace
3
O weeping heart, useless, the world: blind,
It sees in dark, like a flying bat sees,
In the dark night, none to the needy kind,
Fate, the poor’s increasing woes and worries
Darkness: Nothing but corruption of mind,
Absence of light, but people’s limited range
Of thinking, today’s charm; ignore coming days
The linker, love, missing all men are bind,
My eye sees, heart weeps, wishes derange,
Human mind is missing its heavenly rays
