32. Ode to Atargatis

32. Ode to Atargatis

1
By the vision, I reach at the Syrian pool,
Where Atargatis takes bath, as a mermaid,
Diving into the pool water too much cool,
Upper woman, lower fish with the pool aid,
A cute girl with eyes wild like a cute fawn,
Silky thigh. lips, cheeks; long green nails,
Shape shifting color like a morning red rose,
A perfect Sea Nymph, as a Maerrow in lawn.
Reading about mermaids, a book of Fairy Tales,
Being a mermaid; to the magic lake she goes,

2
Diving into the pool; she brings out a tiny fish,
Upper part the same, she comes out of it soon,
She could not touch the bottom, her wish;
Reaching on the brink; starts in lone to croon,
She married not, spends life on the magic brink,
All day sing mermaid songs, in sleep and sound
When breeze touches her cheeks, near the lake,
She swims alone in water sleeps not at a wink,
And weeps for love in the deep water ground,
She cannot walk but swims just like a snake

3
I meet her; shows sea roses on my palm,
Taking it she falls in my love forever,
She sleeps and swims, I await her with calm,
Kissing me she comes back never, never
Now I await her, lone on the fairy pool verge
Nothing to eat, nothing to think but her face,
I pine with her love, know not where she lost,
Years pass, she does not come like a sea surge,
O God! Change me into a fish, in Lake to trace,
My lost love  in the lake being a water ghost
