853. Let us kiss together all night, my dove,

SONNET 853
By JH Sayyar

Let us kiss together all night, my dove,
While stars pour silver down from skies
The hush of dark shall cradle us in love,
And seal our sighs with breath that flies.
The world sleep, but we shall not be still
Our lips will dance like flame upon breeze,
And time, enraptured by our boundless will,
Will slow its step to watch scenes as these
No clock chimes to mark the hour’s decay,
No morning break our tender, blushing spell.
Within your arms, the night loses its way,
Midnight’s hush holds us where we dwell.

So let us kiss till dreams and stars take flight,
And love be crowned the monarch of night.
