SONNET 648
By JH Sayyar
An old man told me in the dreamYouth and age runs side by side
First sweet, second a bitter stream
Youth lake narrow, old age wide
Youth’s demands sex and riches
When youth loses water might
Looks all parts like old witches
Then in soul spreads a dark night
When silver in hairs, youth is gone
Deeds forward, bad remain behind
Youth changes shape with its tone
Just a scarecrow; with no mind!
In the end, all men sing this song!
Youth charms weak old age strong
