475. Once I and my Lady together slept

SONNET 475

By JH Sayyar
Once I and my Lady together slept
On the bed of roses under moon light
Loving eyes with me; all night wept
Ah! Watching my poor soul in plight
I slept for a long time; a dull dream
I came to know the secret of her hair
In hair a candle man when I do deem
More clever than me! My cute Fair
Fathomless woman’s nature sparks
Like bubbles; dreams float in mind
Wishes swim as in a dark night larks
Preying to the prey lust prey to find

When women kind to men give will
Not for love sake but wheat lust to fill
