438. Once I fell in a fit, went into trance

SONNET 438

By JH Sayyar
Once I fell in a fit, went into trance
I roamed in streets where I played
With children I saw all in a glance,
Sitting in lawn I met an old maid!
Alone in desert lived with solitude,
I saw nothing but some fallen trees
Birds, beats and men all were mute
Sun rises looking at my veins freeze
Time changed all but time the same
Images stored in our memories fade
Time: a jungle wolf tough to tame
Time through four elements wade

Time leaves images on mind screen
Time steals youth, in mind still green
