395. We are living on the silvery land,

SONNET 395

By JH Sayyar
We are living on the silvery land,
Earth: a blend of metals and gold,
Eve’s sons are spreading like sand,
Abilities are not in the mart sold,
Some are gold, some are metal,
Iron may be made, not argentine,
Turn metals into gold with rattle,
When time and earth together dine,
Diamond shines like pearls in the pit,
Wisdom shines like the stars in sky,
Eyes see not the planets’ moving hit,
Ah! Wisdom listens to wisdom cry!

Alas! Fools trace wisdom in books!
Wisdom: God-gift in Angels’ looks
