By JH Sayyar
O friends of Uni, whose laughter shaped my days,
Whose echoes haunt the chambers of my heart
In time’s swift river, swept by changing ways,
We drifted, though we vowed we’d never part.
The schoolyard secrets, whispered in the dark,
The shared rebellions, tears we did not hide,
Now rest like faded carvings in the bark
Of memory’s tree, with silence at their side
Yet still, I see you in the evening haze,
When golden shadows stretch across the floor,
And feel the warmth of long-forgotten praise
Come knocking, soft, upon my spirit’s door.
Though time may steal the hours we did spend,
It cannot dim the soul-light of my dear friend.
