By JH Sayyar
When stars unveil the velvet cloak of night,
And silence hushes all worlds to rest,
Two shadows merge beneath the silver light,
By passion's call and secret fire possessed.
No tongue speaks where longing finds its way,
Through whispered breath slow, electric skin;
As beams trace the curves where fingers stray,
Desire unfolds its sacred hymn within.
The pulse, a drum that beats tangled limbs,
In rhythms older than the dawn of time,
Each sigh a note in love’s nocturnal hymns,
Each kiss a verse, each moan a rising chime.
Then sleep may steal them, gently side by side,
As night keeps watch over love it will not chide.
