SONNET 452
By JH Sayyar
Tears float in eyes when great fly
Angels hail them with open hearts
With God’s blessings great men die!
Neither are eaten, nor shrink the parts
M Ali’s death leaves behind all cries
Of
friends and fans in sundry lands
With the burial, weep with the sighs
Death defeated by its mighty hands
Do not weep for Ali we forget death!
Great souls fly to Eden behind frame;
To be eaten by worms, Mortal breath
Life nothing, of fate and chance game
Forget body but make your great; soul!
Bodies to dust; souls in Heaven to carol
