309. When I compare you with my face,

SONNET 309

By JH Sayyar
When I compare you with my face,
I am afraid of separation: and you,
Goad me like a cat: full of grace,
When I call you mine, full of rue,
Time conquers age but in my mind,
Fresh your face and pretty youth,
You to lovers kind, to me unkind,
You to me ruthless to other smooth
Doubt canker; eating love flowers,
It grows with the flower always,
Canker in the flower beauty mars,
Your hate stronger than the sun rays.

Doubt: love canker like earth worm,
Doubt free love never loses its charm.
