SONNET 317
By JH Sayyar
Love eats heart: a canker of my bed,
Breeds in flower: lives in the seed,
Stays in flower with soft petal shred,
Wonderful its being even it is dead
Doubt: love canker breaks lover’ vow,
It separates soul from soul very soon,
What doubt is; nothing: greed, I trow,
My love free of doubt the bright moon,
O Fair! Let us start loving here again,
To restore peace at the earth corners,
Love human goal, keep cool brain,
It purifies lover’s soul and garners,
Women’ love I find in her pretty eyes,
Greed in heart and tongue full of lies!
