945. Sonnet: How to Rule, Learn from Changes Khan

SONNET 945
By JH Sayyar

O thou who seek to wear the crown of might,
Learn from Changes Khan who swept storm and sand—
With vision sharp as falcon's peerless flight,
He forged one law across a broken land.
He ruled not just by sword, but mind profound,
Each tribe he tamed with justice, fierce yet wise.
From humble birth, to kingship he was crowned,
For merit rose where bloodline could not rise
He learned from foes and ancient tongue,
Embraced the strength of every foreign art;
He moved like fire, where he struck, he clung
A ruler forged of will, and the patient heart.

So mark his path: to lead, thou must obey
The truth that power bends to wisdom’s way
