920. From silent depths where void and shadow lay,

SONNET 920
By JH Sayyar

From silent depths where void and shadow lay,
A spark divine broke forth in fateful flame,
And time began its ever-measured sway,
To shape the dust and give the clay a name
The winds took breath, the seas began to swell,
The stars looked down on Eden's newborn child,
And whispered truths no tongue could ever tell
That man would dream, though mortal and reviled.
He stood in awe beneath the sun’s first light,
A soul aflame with hunger to create,
To climb, to fall, to battle wrong with right,
To write his tale in love, in wrath, in fate

Thus born of dust, yet touched by Heaven’s plan,
The earth gave rise to wonder—this noble man.
