919. When stars in mischief court the silent moon,

SONNET 919
By JH Sayyar

When stars in mischief court the silent moon,
And night is drenched in silver, soft and deep,
I do walk beneath the sky’s enchanted tune,
While memories of you disturb my nice sleep
They twirl above, like dancers in the gloom,
And whisper tales the winds have overheard
Of us, of laughter lost, of love in full bloom,
Now only echoed silently in a distant word
I miss you most when night begins to sigh,
When every star seems lit by your sweet face,
And moonlight paints your shadow in the sky
A ghost that time can never quite erase.

Though heavens play, my heart stays true,
For when they shine, they shine for you.
