819. Sonnet to Prof. Habib ur Rehman’s Naughty and Haughty Nature

SONNET 819
By JH Sayyar

O Habib Ur Rehman, both sharp and wise,
With wit that cuts like diamond through the haze,
You wear calm thought beneath your steady eyes,
A mind well-aged, yet lively in its blaze
No jest escapes your seasoned, clever tongue,
Each word you choose—a balance, rich and rare.
Your insight deep, though still you dwell among
The cheerful souls who breathe a lighter air
Maturity has clothed your noble frame,
Yet never dulled the humor in your heart
You joke, yet your truth speaks just the same
You! The master of both laughter and of art

Dear! In you, the sage and jester intertwine,
An naughty spirit both enduring and divine
